Stephen (Steve) born and bred on a dairy farm in the Waikato, started career with Mike Berger graduating from the cadet scheme in 1990, and junior driving while working for mike, then to John Dickie, working with some nice square gaiters (Thriller Dee offspring fame) & Devine Bromac nice junior drive mare. Went to Brisbane in 1995 worked in stable at Albine Park for 6mth before taking job as foreman at Stuart Hunters stables where I meet the other half, from there 2 years on we return to nz going north to work for mike again for 18mths before returning to Canterbury to work on Pips parents dairy farm while building small team, the partnership formed with first winner Brite Evander @ Greymouth in march 2003.


Philippa (Pip) born & bred in Canterbury, growing up on dairy farm near Oxford where ponies were a part of growing up, pony club & eventing a part of life. Starting with Erin Crawford in 1989 graduating cadet scheme in 1991, move to Ian Cameron in 1992, to drive first winner as a junior in 93 behind Speedy Lord @ Methven. In 94 a finalist in the Air nz JD Championship finishing 4th, driving 1st time at Alexander Park with a win on “Ryan’s Day” at long odds. In 95 a finalist in the Canterbury JD Series and winning final on southland horse “Amazon Prince” again at long odds, beating a male dominated final. Go Girls. From there a free trip to Brisbane as winning prize, Darryl Grahams for 3 wks then took up junior driver job with Stuart Hunters stable, there met the other half. Two & half years there, driving 30 wins and heaps of experience in conditioning & training the equine athlete. Back to NZ with Steve in 1997 going nth to work for Mike Berger where breaking in babies was a big part of the stable with horses like Facto non verba (nz cup runner) & Shez a doozie mum to I can doosit etc & Megara. & driving a few races with success. Returning south in 1998 to work at Wai Eyre Farm at Ohoka, weaning foals led to a job year round, general farm work, breeding mares & Stallions work for 5 years, from there started partnership, With group winning brothers in “Awesome Imace 12wins & Sun Lad 5wins” stamping us on the map. And more recently “Theycallmesam 5wins” 3 wins on end & cup day winner – every trainers dream……………………..
